Welcome to Motel
Our story began during a road trip in the 1990s, where our founders, Will and Andy, travelled across America collecting vintage items while living out of motels. They started purchasing vintage clothing in the USA and selling it wholesale, which eventually led to the creation of stores. From there, they began designing reworked vintage pieces, and thus, Motel was born.
Over 30 years and a team of 200+ people later, every piece of clothing we make is created with the same spirit of fun, freedom and adventure as the road trip that first defined the brand. We’re still ambitious and independent, but now we’re a global team - we work from an operational base in Worcester, a design studio in London and a creative studio in Bali.
The role
We’re on the look out for someone to join the frontlines at Motel and keep us connected with our amazing community. Our social media channels are our digital shop window, where we showcase our products and listen to customer insights. As our Social Media Assistant, you’ll help us do that in a way that creates amazing experiences and delivers all the good feels for everyone who visits our socials.
This role plays a crucial role in enhancing the Motel brand online and growing our audience across socials. It offers an amazing opportunity to work inside an exciting brand and grow your understanding of the social media world by using your creativity, communication skills and passion for connecting with people.
Main tasks & responsibilities
This role requires a pro-active, creative person with a track record of demonstrating quality and attention to detail in their work. You’ll be responsible for:
- Organisation: Schedule posts using social media management tools and maintain an organised content and asset library.
- Community Management: Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and engagement in line with Motel’s tone of voice and values, building strong relationships with our audience.
- Social calendar management: Maintain the social calendar to ensure consistent posting schedule and alignment with Motel marketing initiatives.
- Social campaigns: Assist in the planning, execution, and optimisation of social media campaigns to increase brand awareness, drive store traffic and generate sales for Motel
- Social listening: Monitor social media platforms for updates, industry trends and competitor activity. Proactively explore new tools and strategies to enhance our socials and recommend improvement opportunities
- Content creation: Assist in creating eye-catching graphics, photos and videos for our social media posts
- Reporting: Work closely with the marketing team to align social media efforts with overall marketing objectives and strategies, reporting on performance against key metrics and KPIs
- Ad-Hoc support: Provide support for other marketing initiatives and projects as needed
- Content creation: Develop engaging and relevant content for our social media channels, including TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (preferred)
- Prior experience in a social media management or digital marketing role, with proficiency in using social media management tools and analytics platforms
- Strong understanding of various social media platforms and their respective audiences / uses
- Attention to detail and time-prioritisation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
