- % of stock written off in the past 3 years
- items produced in some of our smallest runs
- % of Tier 1 Motel suppliers with a valid and verified social report in line with the ETI Base Code Standard

Production
Over the last three years, less than 1% of our stock has been written off. The stock is then distributed to our Charity partners
At Motel, our approach since 2005 has been on small production runs of clothes - as low as 10! This enables our creativity whilst reducing the amount of products we make and put into the world. Less Clothes produced means less waste created!
One of the initiatives we introduced to help drive this waste reduction is our repair team, who have a home at our Worcester warehouse. Clothes can often arrive from suppliers with small errors from transit - such as missing a button.
Our team of nimble fingers remedy these little issues, making the clothes fit for our customers!

Suppliers
In 2025, we are proud to say that all of our Tier 1 suppliers have a valid and verified social report in line with the ETI Base Code Standard. (SMETA and Amfori BSCI) . A third party carries out this yearly audit and our factories must comply with a number of factors to achieve certification:
- Living wage (inc overtime)
- H&S policy
- Clean & safe workplace
- Commitment to avoiding environmental degradation
- No child or bonded labour
- Workers rights
- Decent working hours
We are committed to ensuring all Tier 2 and Tier 3 have the same certification. This is a difficult task but we've been with a number of our suppliers for over 10 years, so we feel we have the right relationships in place to effect positive change along our and their supply chain.

Packaging
We are proactively working towards ensuring that 100% of our packaging is made from recycled materials.
All care labels and swing tags will be made from 100% recycled materials by the end of 2026.
Since 2018, we've reduced the paper in our ordering chain with the implementation of digital devices, email invoices and only providing returns labels when required.

Distribution
We are proud to collaborate with distribution partners who prioritise sustainability, ensuring that they are proactively working towards improving their environmental standards.
Encouraging sustainable choices throughout our supply chain is fundamental to our sustainability journey.
